Submission Rules
Here are the rules you have to read and follow before submitting your story to the Hogwarts Library.

LENGTH AND CHAPTERS 1. Your fic must be over 200 words - this includes drabbles, prologues and epilogues
2. Your fic must be under 100 chapters
3. Your fic must be updated every 4 months unless otherwise excused
4. Your fic must be finished within 1 year of it first being published if it has fewer than 50 chapters
5. Your fic must be finished within 2 years of it first being published if the fic has 51-100 chapters

ALLOWEDS AND DISALLOWEDS
1. You are allowed almost any type of fic as long as it Harry Potter related
2. Slash fics are NOT allowed unless you have a very good reason
3. The Teachers have every right to disapprove your fic if the content is not deemed fit

SHIPPING, SLASH AND PAIRING
1. All ships are allowed
2. Slash pairings are not allowed
3. Student/teacher pairings are not allowed unless there is a good reason (eg. Harry being a teacher when he leaves school, while Ginny still being in her 7th year.)

LAUNGUAGE, GRAMMAR AND SPELLING
1. Correct spelling must be used at all times unless it is a part of the plot (very rare)
2. Correct grammar must be used unless it is part of the plot
3. There must be correct use of
- Punctuation (commas, full stops, quote and speech marks etc.)
- Capitalization (lower and UPPER case)
- Tenses
- Voices
- Verbs and verb endings
- Plurals
4. The fic must be written in recognisable (and readable) English
5. Foreign languages are allowed in the stories but they must have accurate English translations
6. You may not speak in txt/'MSN' language
7. Please refrain from writing WHOLE PARAGRAPHS IN UPPER CASE BECAUSE IT IS VERY HARD TO READ AFTER A WHILE!
8. Do NOT write in alternate capitals (lIkE tHiS) because it will be rejected immediately!)

PLOTS
1. Your fic must be Harry Potter related
2. The plot does not have to stick to the current canon. If it does not, please put a warning of 'AU' meaning alternate universe
3. If you have spoilers to the 6th book in your story, please put a warning of 'spoilers' on your fic.
4. Characters can die in your fic
5. Spoilers for the Deathly Hallows must be included in the description

RATINGS
1. The ratings for fics is are follows;
1st years (U)- suitable for all audiences and ages
2nd years - (PG)- Parents may want to read this before letting young children read it
3rd years - (12 or PG-13) - Is unsuitable for children under 12/13
5th years - (15 or NC-15) - is not suitable to children under the age of 15
7th years - (18 or NC-17) - is not suitable for children or teenagers under 18/17
2. 1st year fics must not include swearing and must be suitable for ALL ages
3. 2nd year fics can have mild swearing but still be suitable
4. Slash (if allowed), mild swearing and violence can be introduced in 3rd year fics
5. Sex scenes, strong violence and strong language can be introduced in 5th year fics
6. Graphic violence and sex scenes, and strong swearing can be only used in 7th year fics
7. Staff can change the ratings of any fics at any time to what they think is appropriate

CATEGORIES
1. Please place your fic under the right category.
2. If your fic goes under 2 or more categories, please chose the most prominent one, if you cannot decide, please contact the staff and they will tell you where to put it.

PLAGARISM
Plagiarism is STEALING and is NOT tolerated!
1. If you need to report any plagiarism, contact any Teacher or the Headmistress for it to be investigated and dealt with
2. If any plagiarism is committed, the plagiarist will be made to apologise to the Teachers and the other author.
3. The author who plagiarises will be banned from the site and all stories will be removed until they can prove they will not do it again by contacting the Headmistress.

GENERAL SUBMISSION POLICIES
1. Follow these rules
2. Stories must not be insulting any religions/races or its teachings
3. The story must not be racist, or rude about anyone and it must not mention any names of any recognisable figure under rude circumstances.
4. You can only have 2 stories in the queue to be added at the same time
5. You may update chapters every 12 hours
6. You may only have 5 incomplete stories at a time
7. Authors notes and titles are not included in the 200-word limit (minimum)
8. All titles and descriptions are strictly 1st year rating!
9. Be nice to reviewers and members of staff. They are only trying to help!
10. Authors notes are NOT allowed in the middle of your story! It ruins the effect.
11. You have to have a disclaimer in your authors notes or description. If you can't think of a suitable disclaimer, here is one you can copy to use.
“All recognisable characters, places and plots associated with Harry Potter are owned by J.K. Rowling, Bloomsbury and Warner Bros. No copyright infringement is intended.”
12. The staff have the right to reject AND remove any fic they want if they feel it is inappropriate or does not follow the rules.
